A new trend is emerging among Sri Lankan aficionados. Those in the know are making a beeline for the country's inland villas to get the best of both worlds - the peace and privacy of a jungle setting yet within easy reach of the best beaches and culture.

Set in the rainforest behind Unawatuna, Satori is a delightfully warm and atmospheric villa, and includes the services of a great local cook; massages and yoga courses are also available. This is the place to rent with family or friends if you want a relaxed holiday in one of the island's prettiest rural corners.

A few minutes from Unawatuna beach and 10 minutes from Galle Fort this hill top retreat will fit the bill. Perched above panoramic jungle views, near the ancient Yatagala rock temple, Satori feels more like a luxury private villa than a conventional hotel, but with all the privacy and tranquillity that you need. There’s table tennis, an enticing pool, hammocks and rocks with stunning views in every direction.

Satori is a good value, savvy-insider, cool place to stay in Galle, just outside the jungle, offering peace and privacy, & featured & recommended by Harper Bazaaar.

Experience this enchanting private sanctuary with its inspirational jungle views, spatial freedom, meditative pavillions and lived interiors.

I’ve never been so incredibly well looked after or been shown such warmth and kindness so far away from home. Thank you for remembering every small detail and producing all the delicious food! What a beautiful and welcoming country and I’ve barely scratched the surface!

We fell in love with Sri Lanka some years ago but during our stay at Satori our love affair has reached far deeper than before. The beauty of the villa in every detail and the serenity of its surrounding have been a joy and the perfect setting for our family to enjoy a wonderful Christmas together. What makes this villa a home is the extraordinary kindness of Thusitha & his team whose generosity of smiles, knowledge and time have touched us all deeply. Heartfelt thanks to you for all that you have done for us, the long hot shopping trips together, for our delicious meals and for allowing the children to help you cook. For our walk to the temple and our many varied talks about Sri Lankan life.

This has been my favourite holiday I’ve ever had! You’ve all welcomed us and from the moment I arrived I felt at home, comfortable and happy. Indrani your food is wonderful and not too spicy, thank you! Wasantha you are always prepared to run and help with anything, thank you for making my stay so special, I’ll remember it forever.

I’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Words cannot put across the ambience and charm of this villa and its wonderful surroundings, we have been looked after so well.

Wow! Sensory delight! Everything thought of from every angle not a want left in the world here. You have created paradise! I have enjoyed my stay here more than words can express. Thusitha and the staff here complete the perfect package, so kind, warm and attentive. I love it here!

I have loved every moment in this haven of peace, tranquility, serenity, inspiration and love. Thank you for the laughter, the orphanage trip, the coconuts and for going out of your way constantly to take care of us all. Satori with its beauty, luxury, sophistication, comforts, sublime beauty and utter feast for every sense has made my holiday.

Satori is such a beautiful, peaceful and fulfilling place to be, so serene and calm yet full of life and a real place to meditate on the glory of creation. I go away longing to return. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and for the attentive and gracious service by the staff.

Satori, the mind full design of land and dwelling are a credit to the visionary who materialized this dream. The compartments of secluded garden spaces, allow one to neighbor the jungle in peace and then pop into the pool! The accommodation is second to none and every meal was a feast.

The magic of Satori is undeniable. The peace and tranquility permeates everywhere.

There‘s a little place on earth that is truly paradise and that is “Satori”! I thank this magical place for its joy, beauty, abundance and healing energy.

Satori-a tropical paradise! We arrived six days ago exhausted, tired of life in London. After a blissful stay here in the jungle haven we are ready to take on the world again. Mr Thusitha & his team have taken such great care of us all. We had huge reservations travelling with a very allergic and delicate 5 year old daughter. Thank you so much for all your effort making us feel so safe here with her. We have loved every moment of our stay.

The beauty that is Satori, so peaceful yet full of life. The kids have loved every minute exploring… the frogs, the squirrels, the monkeys, the geckos so much fun and laughter had by all. Everyone had made us feel so welcome and well fed. Huge thank you for everything, your careful planning has enabled us to relax and enjoy your wonderful home. We love it here!

My stay at Satori has been so restorative, and such a treat to spend time with my beloved best friend. Everything about Satori has been perfect, the beds, the pool, the hammocks, the massages, the frogs and the birds but most of all the staff. So sweet, always smiling, nothing too much trouble and Indranis food… simply delicious!

So many people before have written of the most amazing qualities of Satori-a gateway to peace, paradise, stillness, so deep in nature a doorway back to Eden! Last night with the torches blazing around the pool, the star clustered skies, the nightlife chattering, the smell after the rains, I really experienced the wonder of Satori.

You don’t need to findheaven-you have it right here at Satori, an incredibly enchanting place. I arrived excited to be staying in such a stunningly beautiful location & the experience will stay with me forever. In the hustle and bustle of London life, I’ll return in my minds eye to the lushness, expanse of green as far as the eye can see, the birdsong, the tranquility, serenity and generosity, kindness and good nature of all the staff.

It was a delight, staying at your place. Me, Madam and the boys had a wonderful time.
